Retail POS hardware, without the bundle markup.

RetailPOS Studio runs in a browser, so most retail POS hardware you already own will work. We don't sell hardware; this guide lists the categories, what to look for and brands shop owners commonly use. Brand names are typeset for reference only.

Spec sheet · FAQ

Hardware questions, answered.

01Do you sell POS hardware?Setting up
No. We don't sell hardware, so you're free to use what you already own or buy from any supplier you trust. The guide lists the types of devices that work and what to check before buying.
02Which barcode scanners work?Setting up
Most USB and Bluetooth scanners that act like a keyboard work without setup, both 1D laser scanners for product barcodes and 2D imagers that also read QR codes. 2D imagers are worth the small extra cost because they read damaged or on-screen codes.
03Which receipt printers work?Setting up
Standard 80mm and 58mm thermal receipt printers work through your device's print system. For Arabic and Urdu receipts, choose a printer that can print graphics, so the script renders correctly.
04Which label printers can I use for barcode labels?Setting up
Thermal label printers and standard sheet printers with sticker sheets both work. You set the label size and layout in the software, then print price and barcode labels for new stock or whole shelves.
05How do card payments work?Cost & billing
Card payments run through your own payment processor's card reader. RetailPOS Studio works with your processor; it records the payment method and amount on the sale. Ask on your demo about the processors common in your market.
06Can I use an iPad or Android tablet?Day to day
Yes. The software runs in a modern browser on iPads, Android tablets, Windows PCs, Macs and Chromebooks. A tablet on a stand is popular for small counters, and a PC suits busy shops with several printers.
07Do I need a cash drawer?Day to day
If you take cash, yes. Most cash drawers connect to the receipt printer and open when a cash sale prints. Cash register open and close records keep each shift's cash accountable.
08Can I use a weighing scale?Day to day
Yes, scales and labels with weight-embedded barcodes are supported, though most general retail, gift and phone shops sell by unit. Ask on your demo if you sell loose items by weight.
