How do I add my shop as a business location?

Set up your first business location in RetailPOS Studio: name, address, invoice layout, receipt printer and default prices.

A business location is a shop, a kiosk or a warehouse. Each location keeps its own stock, its own registers and its own receipt layout. Every new account starts with one default location; you rename it and fill in the details.

Before you start

  • The shop’s trading name and full address.
  • The landline or mobile number customers should call.
  • Whether you print receipts on 80 mm or 58 mm paper, or A4 invoices.
  • Your tax registration number if you have one (for example, a UAE TRN).

Step by step

  1. Go to Settings → Business locations.
  2. Open the default location and press Edit.
  3. Enter the name exactly as it should appear on receipts, for example “Main Street Gifts” or “Hafeez Centre – Shop 14”.
  4. Fill in the address, city, state or emirate, postal code and country.
  5. Add the shop’s phone number and, if you like, a website.
  6. Choose the invoice scheme. This sets the numbering of your receipts, such as a prefix per shop.
  7. Choose the invoice layout for receipts and for full invoices. Thermal 80 mm is the common choice for counters.
  8. Pick the default selling price group if you use different prices for walk-in and wholesale customers.
  9. Save.

Adding more locations

On the Chain plan you can add as many locations as you need. Go to Settings → Business locations → Add and repeat the steps. A new location starts with zero stock; you either receive purchases into it or move stock in with a stock transfer.

Common problems

  • The receipt still shows the old name. Receipts use the location name and the invoice layout. Check both, then print a test receipt.
  • Staff can see the wrong shop. Location access is set per role. Go to Users → Roles and tick only the locations each role should use.
  • Stock shows zero in the new shop. That’s correct for a new location. Receive stock or transfer it in.

Tips

  • Name locations the way your team talks about them. “Mall branch” is easier to pick at 9 pm than “Location 2”.
  • A back-room warehouse can be its own location. That keeps shop-floor stock and reserve stock separate.
  • Print a test receipt and a test invoice after saving, and check the name, address, tax number and footer before your first real sale.
